We first opened our doors for our new cohort on Monday 16 September 2019 and were officially opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes on Thursday 26 September 2019. We have 30 places for our first academic year: 2019-2020.
Our mission is to provide the students of the Stephenson Trust, from both Stephenson Academy and Bridge Academy, access to Post 16 education and provide them with an opportunity to upskill their academic levels and their self-confidence to help ease their next steps into adulthood.
Many of our students have previously found it difficult to access mainstream Post 16 education due to the huge transition to make from small classes to mainstream size classes, within a very large environment. Our aim is to build confidence and skills, so that the students feel able to make positive and successful next steps into the adult world. This might be moving on to college, sixth form, apprenticeships or employment.
I have been a staff member of the Trust since January 2017. Having over 20 years of teaching experience in both mainstream and secondary SEN schools, I am proud to now be leading our Post 16 provision, which is a cutting edge development, mixing the Alternative Provision cohort with the SEMH special education cohorts.
My passion for holistic education underpins the work we do across the Trust; academic, social and emotional needs are met to help our young people make the transition to adulthood.
