We opened the doors to our first cohort on Monday the 16th September 2019 and were officially opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes on Thursday the 26th September 2019 as a 30 place Post-16 Centre for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Our mission is to provide the students of the Stephenson Trust, from both Stephenson Academy and Bridge Academy, access to Post 16 education and provide them with an opportunity to upskill their academic levels and their self-confidence to help ease their next steps into adulthood.
Many of our students have previously found it difficult to access mainstream Post-16 education due to the huge transition from small classes to mainstream size classes, within a very large environment. Our aim is to build confidence and skills, so that the students feel able to make positive and successful next steps into the adult world. This might be moving on to college, sixth form, apprenticeships or employment.
I have been a staff member of the Trust since September 2017. Having over 17 years of teaching experience in both mainstream and secondary SEN schools, I am proud to now be leading our Post 16 provision, which is an innovative development, mixing the Alternative Provision cohort with the SEMH special education cohorts.
My passion making a difference to the lives of young people shines through in our holistic curriculum, underpinning the work we do across the Trust to meet the needs of our students academically, socially and emotionally as they make the transition to adulthood.
